Back in the Saddle!

So....it's that time of year again...or maybe that time of decade?

What time you ask? Well, that time when an author pops back onto the writing scene after disappearing in 2013, of course! I know, right? Nothing like a nice long break to clear the mind and recharge the soul. So why did I take such a long break, you ask? It wasn't by choice, that's for sure. I had a pretty successful year in 2012, at least by my standards, to the last thing I wanted was a break. While I was mentally tired, I had momentum and wanted to continue it. Life, on the other hand, had different ideas.

It started with work - mine went through a series of changes, each one leading down a path I knew was going to be bad...and I wasn't disappointed. Ultimately, I was laid off. Anyone that has experienced this probably went through the same emotional swings that I did - fear of how I was going to support my family, a loss of confidence in my skills, etc, etc. You can imagine it even if you haven't experienced it. If you haven't, I hope you never do. To say the least, for most of 2013, writing was the furthest thing from my mind. Luckily, I landed on my feet. Of course, having settled in a new job and a new area there were so many things to do and see and well, before I knew it, another 3 years had passed before the desire to write crept into my brain again. I started slow, writing for pleasure at first while I started studying the publishing world again, re-learning all the things I'd forgotten during my break.

It's time now. Time to share my stories again, time to challenge myself. This time around, I'm focusing on the indie route, though you may also see me in anthologies from time to time. Wish me luck!
